My Story

Looking for a miracle

Could you be a person of selfless sacrifice & godly humanity able to donate their spare kidney? For living one only needs a kidney. You have the “gift of life” with you, please consider saving another life.  Are you that person, capable of saving my life?

On the morning of August 21, 1998 I began packing.  I was transferring colleges, leaving home for the first time, getting ready to start a new chapter in my life.  Little did I know that this new chapter would start that very day.

In the afternoon I went to the doctor to have my school health form filled out.  The doctor did a blood test, the results showed some abnormality.  That evening I lay in a hospital bed frightened, confused, completely unsure of what tomorrow would bring. I underwent tests to confirm my doctor’s suspicions;  I was diagnosed with leukemia, a blood cancer.

Three years after being diagnosed with cancer I went back to college.  I stayed close to home because it was no longer possible for me to go away with my health problems.  Although escaping cancer through a born marrow transplant my body had fallen prey to another illness – End Stage Renal Disease.  The treatment I received during cancer and post transplant required harsh medications and chemotherapy.  My kidneys failed due to these medications.  The only way now to sustain my life is  through dialysis treatments.

Over six years ago I was blessed with a miracle, today I am in search of another miracle.  I hope I am entitled to 2 miracles in one lifetime because that’s what I need right now.  Although I realize this is no small or easy donation to ask for, I have no choice but to ask, to plead and to search.
